- Chosen by Voters No.If your plaster is soft/powdery, start by wiping one part vinegar and four parts water on the wall. This will harden the plaster so that it will accept paint. Then prime with an alkaline-resistant primer, like Sherwin Williams Loxon Concrete & Masonry Primer, which is also great for plaster. This primer will prevent alkaline & efflorescence in the plaster from seeping though the layer of paint. Not properly sealing the plaster can cause the paint to peel & fade.

- Chosen by Voters Surprisingly, dark wall colors actually recede from the eye, making the room feel bigger than it is. I'd suggest a darker color with white or cream trim. My personal preferences would be either a rich dark gray or taupe, if you're trying to stick with a neutral palette, or if you'd like a color you could go with a nice deep green or blue. I would stay away from reds though, even dark ones – first of all, they take about 10 coats of paint to cover correctly, but they also tend to jump out at you which will end up making the room feel smaller. We just painted my mom's living room Dark Granite by Behr and it looks fantastic. You can actually go to the Behr website and play around with colors there. I'd also suggest bringing home a couple samples of colors and painting big squares on the wall and then living with them for a day or two- you'd be surprised by how much colors can change in your own home. (We also looked at Trail Print, which was too brown for our taste, but might look very nice with your khaki and espresso furniture.)

Since you can't drill holes into the wall, maybe you can use those Command Hooks somehow. Try applying a Command Hook (They come in so many styles and sizes) on each of the window. Then try and find maybe a thin rod that will fit onto the hooks. Or, even a thick gauged wire would hold up the curtains as well. Just make loops to fit the hooks. The Command products are absolutely wonderful! I use them all the time. They come off so easily and leave no marks of any kind! 3 months ago 1 person rated this as good Thanks.

- Chosen by Voters This question brings back memories! If you go through a really good neighborhood on trash day, you'll often find that people have sat out furniture or other things that you could use. Though not free, you can also find inexpensive things at garage sales, flea markets, and Goodwill stores. Salvage yards can also be a good resource especially if you have some imagination. 2 weeks ago 100% 1 Vote
